Chilume works among the underprivileged rural and urban people who are economically weaker and from socially deprived castes. Chilume implements education, livelihood, women empowerment, skill development and health programs in rural Bangalore, Bangarpet, Kanakapura taluks and in the slums of urban Bangalore. Students from rural and urban slum areas always struggle to complete their college and to leverage their education for a promising career. The Pre University (Class XII) results of Karnataka state over the years indicate that only 45-55% of enrolled students are successful each year resulting in almost half of the enrolled students remaining college dropouts. Chilume has been striving to provide education and soft skill opportunities for the underprivileged students, economic and livelihood opportunities for marginalized women, employment opportunities for unemployed and unskilled youth and providing awareness and financial support for economically vulnerable in poor health
